How to Prepare For The TPT Sitewide Sale

Teachers Pay Teachers organizes a TPT Sitewide Sale every quarter. Most of the time, the dates will be February, May, August and November. Sometimes they will have “Bonus” sales in April and September. As a seller, you need to manually (UPDATED: See below) join the sitewide sale in order for your buyers to receive 25% off of their purchases. 20% will be discounted from your store and TPT will give them an additional 5% with a code. So, what do you need to do to prepare? Read on!

Why Should I Participate in the Sale?

Even if you are new to TPT, participate even if it means getting eyes on your store. I made this video on why I think it is important.

Wait For the TPT Sidewide Sale Banner to show

Usually a week to 2 weeks, TPT will send out an email (make sure you have your notifications on) and there will be a banner showing when you open TPT.

UPDATE: You now have the option to automatically join the sitewide sale.

• Click the house, go to Dashboard
• From Dashboard, go to Marketing
• From Marketing, go to Throw A Sale

In “throw a sale” you can participate in TPT’s sales and create your own sale, up to 4 days. In the image below, where the red arrow is pointing, if you move it to the right, that will give TPT permission to automatically have your store participate in the upcoming sale.

What Else Do I Need To Do?

If turning your store on was all you did, that would be fine. BUT, there are a few more things you can do!

• When TPT gives the thumbs up (a certain date), you can advertise the sale on IG, FB, your email list
• If you need marketing graphics, TPT will provide a link to them
• If you are interested in buying, create your own wishlist
• Check your store to make sure your covers are eye-catching
• Are your 4 Featured Products Up to date?
• Are Your Custom Categories easy to follow?

But the one task I would highly recommend is to HAVE NO EXPECTATIONS for sales. Yup, I said it. My first sale I had 3 sales and honestly, I was thrilled. I’ve had over 10 sales in a day and no sales in a day (I also have a small store). This past May TPT sitewide sale, I had 3 sales (again!). I usually have better sales during a hashtag sale.
